The Coppa d'oro delle Dolomiti is a historical Italian motoring competition which in 2021 will be celebrating its 74th birthday. It will be taking place from 15 to 21 July.

The event was born as a race of pure speed, later being transformed into a regularity race for vintage cars produced up to 1971.

In fact, over the years, the charm of the mountain roads has remained intact, making the Coppa d'Oro one of the most famous events on the calendar both due to the beauty of the route - which weaves through the most evocative mountain passes around Cortina d'Ampezzo - and due to the level of the cars in the race.

In fact, right from the start the Coppa d'oro delle Dolomiti attracted cars that still feature today in the sports world. Of the many cars we remember the Cisitalia 202 Spyder Mille Miglia which, driven by the founder of the Cisitalia itself Piero Dusio, came second in the first edition held in 1947. This result is even more amazing if we think about the fact that the Cisitalia 202 evolved from the Fiat 1100 and was much less powerful than the Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 which came first with only a few minutes advantage.

The photograph shows one of the rare examples of that model of Cisitalia displayed at the Auto e Moto d'Epoca show.
