For the 40th anniversary of the International Exhibition and in honour of Emilia Romagna and of the Motor Valley hosting the event for the first time in 2023, the Registro Internazionale Touring Superleggera will be exhibiting one of the world's first road Ferraris: the Berlinetta 195 LM Coupé Superleggera, identical to the car with which Count Giannino Marzotto won the Mille Miglia race in 1950.
Indeed, touring was the first bodywork of the Modena-based factory established by Enzo Ferrari. The Superleggera construction system used aeronautical technology to produce a tubular chassis with very low weight for sports cars. After making its début at the Mille Miglia in 1937, when the Alfa Romeo 6C 2300 L Mille Miglia – the first to have a body made using the new method - won first place in the category and came fourth overall, the Superleggera method won one victory after the next across the panorama of international competitions.
In more than 90 years of history, some of the world's finest and most successful sports and luxury cars have been branded Touring Superleggera.
Also in the Registro's booth, a 1942 Alfa Romeo 6C 2500 S Cabriolet Turinga, one of the coachbuilders' rare cars produced under the Italianised name out of respect for the autarchic imposition of the twenty-year Fascist period.
