Riding the wave of chance and of history, this Jaguar E-type in excellent condition arrives fresh out of a high-level restoration at Auto e Moto d'Epoca, and it’s bringing its original Coventry factory certificates along with it. You'll find it in Pavilion 14 in the Sorgato collection. The story of this beauty begins in 1962 when it is taken to Germany in its original cream and hazelnut livery. Three years later, it arrives in Italy zipping frantically between Bologna, Ravenna and Ancona, changing hands ten times; each owner is recorded in great detail in this matching numbers booklet.
Things take a turn in 1979: for E-Types in general, these are not easy years. The trends of the time favor squared lines and the legend of these wonderful Jaguars has not yet formed. At this stage, only a small group of enthusiasts preserves and appreciates this icon from the 60s. Fortunately, this Jaguar met one of those enthusiasts and it was love at first sight. When the car falls into the hands of a Milanese bon vivant, a new season of travelling and companionship begins and led them to cover the roads of Europe (up to Russia) for the following 35 years. At a certain point though, the years start to their toll and the two travelling partners moved to the riviera. Here the Jaguar finds a home under the portico of a country house and it "falls asleep". It seems like the end, but it isn't to be the case. It is rediscovered in 2016 after a long slumber thanks to an enthusiast from the Veneto region who, for over two years, restored it paying great attention to detail. In 2019, it arrives in Padua more beautiful than ever. Ready to start a new adventure.
