Auto e Moto d'Epoca celebrates 100 years of the car that defines the automotive industrial revolution of past, present and future.

Auto e Moto d'Epoca 2021 is celebrating an exceptional anniversary for historic Italian vehicles. The Lancia Club is celebrating 100 years of the Lancia Lambda by showcasing two models: a sedan and a torpedo.

Lambda is known as the first modern car because it revolutionised the way in which cars were made in the 20s. It was the first car with a self-sustaining framework, the first with suspensions, a drive shaft tunnel, a four-wheel brake system and an electrical system. All these innovations were registered and patented and, for many years, they represented the feather in the cap of the automotive industry.

The Lambda introduced many innovations so ahead of its time that it remained unchanged for almost two full decades. This was at a time when cars were usually manufactured from scratch every one-to-two years in order to keep up with the rapidly-evolving technical progress.

The design of the Lambda was so innovative that it became the golden standard of reference in the automotive industry. For years, European manufacturing houses adopted the technical standards introduced by Lancia and some of them even advertised their star vehicles with a simple, yet revealing language: the best cars of the time were labelled as "Lambda-type" models in the brochures.
