The economic recovery in the early Sixties inspired Maserati to build a high-performance saloon with particularly fierce features. This concept led to the birth of the “sports saloon”. The Quattroporte was unveiled at the Turin Motor Show in autumn of 1963 and was a resounding success, becoming the trademark of Maserati.
The Quattroporte also débuted in Hollywood, appearing in a large number of iconic films, such as Rocky III, The Fly and The Dead Zone. However, the President of the Italian Republic, Sandro Pertini, also fell in love with its style and elegance and chose it as the Presidential Car.
