It's not easy being the child of a great man and it's not easy for a great father to not overshadow his own son. Dino Ferrari's story, however, shows that it is possible. At a very young age, Dino was already working hard to develop V6 motors alongside engineers such as Aurelio Lampredi, creating a different engine to his father Enzo, who had mastered and pioneered the V12s. Sadly, in 1956, young Dino's life was cut short at the age of 24 due to an illness.
A desperate Enzo decided to call every V6 motor produced by Ferrari "Dino".
Engineer Jano continue the work and, in 1956, the first V6 engine was tested at the Ferrari workshop. The following year, the first Dino engine car took to the road. It was a Type 156 with a 1498 cylinder engine and 65° bank angle.
Here begins the story of fabulous Italian brand "DINO", which embraces Ferraris, Fiats and all cars that use V6 and V8 Ferrari engines: 206gt, 246gt, 246gts, Fiat Dino coupé and spider, Lancia Stratos, 208gt4, 308gt4 and 206SP.
The work of Club Dino Italia is dedicated to this extraordinary motoring heritage, which will be showcasing for the first time at Auto e Moto d'Epoca from 21st to 24th October 2021. At the stand: Fiat Dino coupé 2400; Fiat Dino spider 2000; and Ferrari Dino 246 GTS
